Have you ever been in a room where you felt more exhausted just by being there? Have you found it difficult to understand what’s being said around the table you’re sitting at? Acoustics is a term that has become more common in everyday language over the years. With all the stimuli we live with in today’s society, good acoustics will create a better space to be in. Proper acoustic treatment can reduce unwanted noise from external sources or other rooms, improving the work environment and comfort within the room. Research shows that what is most disruptive in an open office environment is the voices of others in the office.

In environments where speech is central, it’s important that sound is distributed well and clearly. This way, you won’t have to strain to hear what’s being said, and noise from movements in the room can be reduced.

If the reverberation time is too long, it will be perceived as noise. Many hard and smooth surfaces lead to excessively long reverberation. Reverberation occurs when sound bounces back and forth between walls instead of hitting once and then being absorbed.

In a room where multiple people are speaking in different groups, poor acoustics will cause reverberation of all the voices and sounds being made. This results in people having to speak even louder to those they are addressing to drown out the noise. In contrast, in a room with good acoustics, consonants will be clear, and the reverberation short.

So how can you improve the acoustics in a room? Choose thicker ceiling panels that absorb more sound. If you want smooth walls, consider how hard these surfaces are. Depth and texture in surfaces also create cavities for the sound, which then gets absorbed. By having gaps between the outer surface and the construction, you also create space for the sound to be absorbed.

Our slat elements with an acoustic panel behind them provide excellent results. Here you can choose different widths and surface treatments for the slats, as well as the distance between them for varying sound absorption.

For a different look, we also offer perforated panels. These are veneered panels with holes drilled through them so that the sound can escape. There are many attractive and effective solutions available, and custom options can be tailored to your needs and preferences.

Remember that a room with good acoustics improves the well-being and comfort of those who occupy it. Reduced reverberation and noise contribute to a more pleasant atmosphere.
