We at Vyrk are proud to announce that our veneered panels and slatted elements have now received EPD certification! This makes us one of the few in Norway to offer veneered panels with this environmental declaration, and we are incredibly pleased to take such an important step toward sustainability.

To become more aware of the environmental footprint of our products, Vyrk has invested in software to calculate the life cycle of our products. Additionally, we have trained our employees and developed life cycle analyses on our own, unlike many other companies that rely on consulting firms. In this way, we have a unique ownership of the footprint our products leave on the environment. It has been a long and intense journey, but also incredibly educational. In a short time, we have had and published a total of 9 EPDs.

What is an EPD?

EPD stands for Environmental Product Declaration and is a verified document that provides details about the environmental impact of a product throughout its entire life cycle. This includes everything from raw material extraction, production, transportation, use, and finally waste management or recycling. EPDs are based on international standards and are used as a tool to compare the environmental performance of products.

For our customers in the construction industry, an EPD is particularly important because it provides complete transparency regarding the environmental footprint of the materials they use. This is essential at a time when the demand for sustainable buildings and solutions is increasing in line with new environmental regulations and awareness of climate change.

Today, there is a growing focus on sustainability and eco-friendly solutions, both among consumers and professionals. Particularly in the construction industry, there is significant pressure to reduce carbon footprints and ensure that projects comply with strict environmental requirements. This makes products with EPD certification especially valuable.

For our veneered panels, EPD certification means that customers can be confident they are choosing a product that has been thoroughly assessed and has a documented low environmental impact. EPDs also help meet the requirements of certification schemes such as BREEAM and LEED, which often require documentation of the environmental performance of building materials.

Vyrk – Leading in sustainable panel products

That we at Vyrk are now among the few players in Norway with EPDs for veneered panels is something we are very proud of. This reflects our commitment to being a sustainable actor and our willingness to lead in terms of eco-friendly solutions. Our veneered panels not only provide a beautiful, natural appearance but also meet strict environmental requirements, making them a safe choice for any building that wants to focus on green solutions.
